Minutes, IBIS Quality Committee 19 August 2014 11:00-12:00 EST (08:00-09:00 PST) ROLL CALL Ericsson: Anders Ekholm Intel: Michael Mirmak Signal Integrity Software * Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Consulting Group: * Bob Ross Everyone in attendance marked by * NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. -----------------------MINUTES --------------------------- Mike LaBonte conducted the meeting. Call for opens and IBIS related patent disclosures: - None Opens: - None ARs: - Mike ask IBIS board about publishing the user guide - Done. - Michael M would prefer to have SAE look at copyright and have message comments filled in. IBISCHK document: Bob showed the user guide. - Bob: This has both "unused" and "not used". - We should be consistent. - We decided on "unused". - Mike: In cases where there is a full comment we could prefix it with "UNUSED: ". - Bob: I may not have the latest copy of the message spreadsheet. AR: Mike send message spreadsheet to Bob - Bob: E0142 has "Non spec check". - Mike showed source code. - We found that this check appears only with a '-etc' command line option. - CIRCUIT_ERR_29 through 33 also require -etc. - Bob: We might want to enable these checks permanently. - Mike: The source code comment saying it is not a spec error is from John Powell. - We should ask Atul what he knows about the -etc option. - Bob: We have no model files with external circuits to test this with. AR: Mike send Bob details about code using the -etc option. AR: Bob ask Atul about ibischk -etc option. AR: Mike produce list of IBISCHK code modules with uncommented message counts. BIRD 173: - Bob: We need to check: - Capacitance: - Diagonal entries must be non-negative. - Off-diagonals have to be non-positive. - Column and row summations have to be less than the diagonal. - Inductance rules are more complicated. - Eigenvalues have to positive. - We can take the matrix inverse and test using capacitance rules. - Mike: Code to do some of this may exist. - Numerical Recipes may have it, for example. - Bob showed BIRD 173. - Bob: It would be good to have a better citation for M-matrix than Wikipedia. - Mike: Academic references would be good but most are no longer free. - Mike: We could ask Agilent if they have code to contribute - Bob: There might be legal restrictions. - Bob: Some may feel that the L and R matrix checks should be more complete. - The newer checks, showing in red, are simpler than the others. - It is a concern that there are four matrix formats. - Mike: Does the parser create a full matrix? - Bob: It might not, but we would have to do that to do the checks.
